Interrogative Sentence (প্রশ্নসূচক বাক্য) :
যে sentence দ্বারা কোন প্রশ্ন করা হয় তাকে Interrogative sentence বলে।
A sentence that asks questions and starts with ‘wh’ or a verb is called an interrogative sentence.
Interrogatives sentence এর মাধ্যমে আমরা ২জন ব্যক্তির মধ্যে কথোপকথন দেখে থাকি যা এক বা একের অধিক সম্পর্কিত মানুষের তথ্য বহন করে থাকে। এসব বাক্য question mark (?) দ্বারা শেষ করা হয়।

Wh question :
যেসব প্রশ্নসূচক বাক্য Wh words দ্বারা শুরু হয়, এবং সেসবের উত্তর ব্যাখামূলক হয়ে থাকে তাকে Wh question বলে।

3. Where are you from?
4. Which book do you like the most?
5. Who is your partner in this competition?
6. Whom do you like most?
7. Why are you making noise?
Yes/No question :
যেসব প্রশ্নসূচক বাক্যের জবাব শুধুমাত্র হ্যাঁ বা না তে দেয়া যায় তাদের Yes/No question বলে। এসব বাক্যের তথ্য প্রশ্নের মধ্যেই দেয়া থাকে এবং জবাবে শুধুমাত্র তার স্বীকারোক্তি বা অসম্মতি প্রকাশ পায়।
Example:
1. Did you answer all the questions?
2. Are you going home now?
3. Did you meet him today?
4. Do you know him?
5. Have you finished your homework?
Tag question :
যেসব প্রশ্নসূচক বাক্যের মধ্যেই explanation থাকে এবং প্রশ্ন করার মাধ্যমে সে situation confirm করা হয় তাকে Tag question বলে।
Example :
1. They are moving to the USA, aren’t they?
2. It’s raining outside, isn’t it?
3. You’re going home, aren’t you?
4. She has an affair with her colleague, hasn’t she?
5. Runa is your sister, isn’t she?
6. They are not quarreling anymore, are they?
7. She is not jobless, is she?
Alternative questions :
যেসব প্রশ্নসূচক বাক্যের মধ্যে দুটি কাজ বা বিষয়ের উল্লেখ থাকে এবং দুটি কাজের মধ্যে choice দেয়া হয় তাকে Alternative question বলে।
Example :
1. Would you like ice cream or cake?
2. Is it black or blue?
3. Are you coming or going?
4. Did he buy a house or rent a house?
5. Do you like monsoons or spring?
Structure :
To be verb যুক্ত interrogative sentence এর গঠন: Verb+sub+extension+?
Example: Are you going to school today?
To have verb যুক্ত interrogative sentence এর গঠন: tense অনুসারে do/does/did+sub+have/has+extension+?
Example: Does she has a car?
সাহায্যকারী verb বিহীন interrogative sentence এর গঠন: do/does/did+sub+verb+extension+?
Example : Does she like Apple?
‘Wh’ যুক্ত শব্দের প্রশ্নের উত্তর গুলোতে পূর্ণ ভিন্ন জবাব দিতে হয়।
