Our Government made this bridge from its own funding and it was the biggest challenge for the government. It took almost eight years to complete. The aim of this Padma bridge is the economic, social and industrial development of the southwest region of the country. The final part was constructing and supervision. The length of the Padma bridge is 6.15 km and the width is 18.10 m. The total span is 41 and they weigh 3140 tons and are 150 meters long. It has 42 pillars, 264 piles in total. Bangladesh bridge authority and China Major Bridge Engineering Corporation worked so hard to complete this project. This project or bridge cost an estimated ৳91.72 billion (US$980 million). The Padma Bridge inauguration ceremony happened on June 26, 2022. On the 1st day of the inauguration, 15200 vehicles passed the Padma bridge and the toll collection was 8219000 taka. This is 122 nd largest bridge in the world.
